Day 7: Arriving in Armagh

Included in our astronomical Sheraton Hotel price was a breakfast buffet. Let me tell you, we would have paid double for that buffet; it was amazing! There were sausages, yogurts, fruits, eggs, hashbrowns, breads, bacon, figs, prunes, preserves, coffee, tea, and the list goes on. We did not rush through this breakfast, but instead sat and savored all of the deliciousness set before us.

After getting our fill, we drove to Armagh, Northern Ireland. This was the first place we had booked a hostel, so I was a little curious about how it would be. It turned out to be one of the major highlights of the trip for me. Not that the accommodations were so great (they weren't bad though), but the people we met were wonderful. To begin with, John, one of the guys who runs the hostel, is incredibly interesting and funny, and knows more about US history than 90% of the Americans I know. Zach and I spent several hours standing at the front desk, talking to him. He also informed us that one of his favorite actors, Vincent Price, was from St. Louis...who knew?

The other wonderful people we met were a cute little couple who were old enough to be our grandparents. Their names were Peter and Viv. Peter was tall and thin like Zach, and Viv was smaller like me. On top of that, her initials were VA! Do you see the magical connection?! We had many enjoyable conversations with the two of them, and they even invited us to stay at their place if we ever visit Wales. Full of happy feelings, we retired to our 2 twin beds for the night.
