We're in day 5 of our time in Europe. Today, we left County Kerry and headed northwest for a one night stop in County Roscommon. This was the only night of our entire trip that wasn't booked, so we ended up in an entirely too expensive swanky hotel (you won't find me complaining, though).
It's hard to put into words the beauty we've seen here in Ireland. However, there are some phrases that come to mind: dew-kissed emerald morning grass, mountains so covered with wild yellow flowers that they looked as though they had been pollenated, delicious pints of beer bearing the name of the town we were in, sheep so thick with wool that it looked like someone inflated them with air, an Irish rainbow that felt as though I could reach out and touch it, to name a few.
We, of course, have a tiny little burnt-orange car; it's called a KA. Surprisingly, Zach fits in it well. He's done a wonderful job adjusting to driving on the left side of the road, while operating a manual, mind you! I'm so proud.
My favorite memories so far have been visiting a local sheep farm (you can support them by adopting one of their sheep...just do a search for the Kissane Sheep Farm), hiking in the Killarney National Forest (looks like Middle Earth), and going pubbing (is that a word?) with my hubby. Tomorrow, we're off to Northern Ireland for a couple of days, in search of where my ancestors lived. For now, I'll leave you with a happy Irish phrase: Slainte!
